Bruce, looking up his kids’s criminal records- Jason, why did you get fined for ‘insulting a police officer’?

Jason, angrily slamming his hands down on the table- For the last time, I wasn’t 'insulting an officer’, I was 'greeting my brother’!

Dick, grinning widely- I have never loved my name more

Oh my godddddd I’m in real tears right now because, Bruce goes off on some batshit mission, and Jason’s immediately like WHY IS ROBIN NOT STOPPING HIM BY BEING THE LIGHT TO HIS DARK!? DUKE, THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!! and Duke has to point out, are you FUCKING kidding me, JASON “I DIED AS ROBIN AND CAME BACK AS A VILLAIN JUST TO TRY TO MAKE BATMAN KILL THE JOKER” TODD?

I feel like this is both the funniest thing I’ve ever seen and a deep look into Jason’s unshakable belief in the idea of Robin’s role as the one that keeps Batman from walking too far into the dark, that it may not be Jason’s role anymore, but he still believes that it’s a needed role.

I love that the first time Jason tried to come for Duke he turned around with receipts and all and decided to also pull up a “Actually I’m the only one who does my job here in this room, Mr. Former dead Robin active crime lord zombie.

My archeology class has really given me a renewed and visceral hatred of ancient aliens shitheads literally the laziest and most incurious and thoroughly racist pseudoscience in existence

Archeologists: the sarcophagus lid of Pakal the Great depicts the moment of his transformation from a living lord to a sacred ancestor, literally poised between life and death along the axis of the World Tree as he descends into the underworld. It’s a beautiful and stunning piece of art providing an unparalleled glimpse of Maya cosmology.

i know we’re all sick of self-care being a marketing tactic now, but i don’t think a lot of us have any other concept of self-care beyond what companies have tried to sell us, so i thought i’d share my favorite self-care hand out

brought to you by how mad i just got at a Target ad

OP this is EXCELLENT

Now THAT’S a self care resource! If you’ve gotten distracted by capitalism’s appropriation of “self-care” and watering the meaning down to nothing this is a super helpful guide to cut through the bullshit.

Yesterday I almost cried because my baby cousin ran up to my grandmother and was like. “Ha! Buhbuh ba ha.” And she said okay you want to show me something? And he led her over to the garden patch and crouched down and pointed at rocks and plants and was like. “Ah. Habah ba ah” as she listened attentively.

And I was like that happened 1,000 years ago. Probably 10,000 years ago. Maybe 100,000. The youngest human in a group went to the oldest one and said to the best of their ability “come see.” And the adult went.

this is such a beautiful post it doesn’t need my dumb addition, but i can’t fit this in the tags. at the archaeological site Dolni Vestonice in the Czech Republic there are a bunch of really really fascinating finds and I’m only going to tell you about one tiny detail of one of the most interesting sites in the world.

at this settlement 20-30,000 years ago there lived a person who appears to have been a sort of sorcerer-grandmother-ceramics artist and her workshop was preserved very well in the sedimentary layers. her hut where she had her kilns was full of little sculptures of animals and people that seem to have been made to explode in the kiln on purpose, we’re not sure why but nevermind. the relevant detail is that when you sculpt something with your hands and then fire it, your fingerprints can be preserved in the surface of the clay forever, so we have fingerprints of ancient ceramics artists that have survived for tens of thousands of years. and one of the major artifacts from Dolni Vestonice has a fingerprint on it that is so small it could only have belonged to a child

so this shaman-grandmother-sculptor, who was buried with her pet fox by the way, had children running through her workshop and touching everything she made while she was at her mysterious work of creating the world’s oldest ceramics, none of which appear to be bowls, bottles, pots, or any “useful” items at all, but rather a collection of animal and human and sometimes anthropomorphic figures, some of which appear to be self portraits. exactly the same as sandersstudios’ grandmother being led to the garden by an excited baby. we’ve all been the same for 30,000 years.

it’s horrific. awful way to die. either you’re trapped with no chance of being found, air running out, everyone around you suffocating, or the hull is broken and you get turned to jelly by the crushing ocean depths. ik they’re billionaires so it’s very contentious for me. generally i prefer no one dies horrifically. like just as a fellow human being on earth. but i dont think the ultra rich ever extend that mindset to others. climate refugees. and just everything. it feels like something a greek god would do to punish them. it has a certain swagful je ne sais quoi if removed from the human suffering which billionaires have to do philosophically to maintain their positions. very haunting. the hubris of it all. old jalopy metal tube steered by a mad catz controller. to go look at the titanic. which is nothing but a rusted out metal wreck full of fish and silt. btw. the grandiosity of it is completely unrecognizable. one has to wonder what compels ppl to even look at it in the first place. like the prestige of seeing some filthy grown over shell? crazy thing to die for. very textually rich… bad way to die as a human being. great way to die as a narrative about human greed and folly i guess. good job. mission accomplished?

Reblogging again because I just realized that if I had this advice in high school I would’ve never made a tumblr account.

Also works for most of those news sites like WSJ or NYT that only let you read a little bit, or block adblockers. Also some disable the scroll bar but if you go to the right side of the console after hitting F12 and look for the CSS element “overflow” and change it from “hidden” to “visible” then you can continue scrolling for free. Might have to click around on different parts of the page to find it, but it should work.

There’s also a Firefox/Chrome extension called Behind The Overlay that does all that with one mouse click. Used it for years; what a time saver.

And if you encounter a true paywall, use Archive.Today to bypass it. Just paste the paywalled url into the blue “search archived snapshots” box near the bottom:
